Can we please have a link to your blog as well as to what Wix is? A copy of the code you;re trying to add is also a plus. Please remember to copy the code within backticks. That's the key above the tab key and to the left of the '1' key on most keyboards. Thanks.

I don't seem to be able to add a Wix html script to a banner, or any 'other' style html for that matter. Tried the 'Text 1' option, but it says 'no options for this widget'.

How can I do this?

Can I get you to check some thing for me? Can you tell me what blog URL is in the web address when you go to write a post?

I just need to confirm that you are trying to write the post here - http://horticulturaltherapystudent.edublogs.org/wp-admin/post-new.php ? As you should be able to write posts because you have the correct user role.

It may be that you need to navigate to the correct blog dashboard following these instructions - http://help.edublogs.org/2009/08/31/navigating-to-different-blog-dashboards-inside-your-account/

drmike on "Weekend issues"

Greets:

Edublogs had some issue this weekend. Long story short, the DNS servers for the edublogs domain were unresponsive. In simple terms, think of it as opening up your local telephone white pages and finding them all blank. You're unable to find the telephone number of the person you need to call. In this case, the rest of the internet was unable to find where the edublogs server's are located on the net.

Here's a post from Sue concerning the issue:

What happened yesterday is ServerBeach the company that hosts Edublogs.org was doing maintenance on their system. While moving DNS services onto the new ServerBeach portal they encountered an issue with their DNS Services.

This meant that Edublogs.org, like many of their large clients, had their DNS records affected and so when users looked up their blog URLs they were unable to locate them.

You can read more about it here - http://forums.serverbeach.com/showthread.php?t=7919

During this our team worked hard to bring Edublogs back online and are now implementing measures to ensure this doesn't happen again.

We thank you for your understand. While it's easy to pass the buck in this case as it was a datacenter issue, please note that Sue mentions that they are working on preventing this from happening again.

I can think of some highly technical solutions that you can do on your own PC but this is probably beyond what is normally covered here. Being honest. If you understand the idea of adding the IP address to your hosts file, then you probably don't need me to explain it to you. ;)

Any questions? Please feel free to ask.

Actually I just wanted to know what the issue was. As noted, I didn't notice any problems with the service this weekend. As noted in the much ignored guide, giving specifics and details are always a plus. If one doesn't explain one self, it's kind of hard for others to understand what is happening.

Teachers call it "Show your work" and I have to admit it's very lacking around here. I've been tempted many many times to just follow up a post with those three words but I know it'll be taken the wrong way.

Please also kindly remember that I have a great deal of problems with operating the keyboard of both my iPhone and even my keyboard. When I'm on the iphone, it's short as possible. Also considering that I'm supposed to be raising money for poor and homeless children right now, gotta admit that's a bit more important to me.

Mr. Price, many of us are professionals here. Considering these forums are designed for teachers, I'm almost tempted to say we're all professionals here. May I suggest we all remain professional and ask we all stop the snipping now? I'm sorry you;re offended but I;ve got to admit I read through your school district's policies last night and I'm tempted to make a phone call or two.

As to your "I'm a supporter" well I'm a tax payer and I reminder you that you work for your school district. Not much difference there. But to be honest, supporter or not, I do my best to help all that I can.

Closing thread since this is very off topic. I'll start a new one in a second as this is a current issue.

I'm extremely grateful for any support any one provides in the Edublogs forums because the more alternative options the better the solution provided.

And I'm always willing to thank those who do volunteer (such as free Edublogs supporter subscriptions)

Volunteers like Dr Mike frequently see the problem from a different perspective which gives rise to an alternative solution I mightn't have considered. Same as readers of The Edublogger ( http://theedublogger.com/) share their tips that help others.

In Dr Mike's case it was 'frustrations of someone trying to help on a technical issue without sufficient information'

Full credit to Dr Mike because any one with an iPhone will tell you accessing a forum on an iPhone and then write any sort of response is really hard work.

Mr. Price, the original snark was aimed at me, and when I read it I realized that I might not have been suffering a system-wide problem, but something more localized -- Verizon, for example, had a major internet outage over the weekend. Dr. Mike is right: I was assuming that my problem was universal, but it might not have been: it's possible, for example, that the DNS mini-transfer they did here made it possible for him to access edublogs, as he apparently did, but not me.

Yes, it was a bit sarcastic, but it wasn't cruel, in my view. It was the normal frustration of someone trying to help on a technical issue without sufficient information.

Sue, I've subscribed to the twitter feed. Since I use twitter more often than I remember to check the forums, that should help.

Wow. Creepy. I am a supporter, which means I pay for this service. I didn't realize disrespect and insults was part of the service. So I won't be a paying supporter after this year. You, along with anyone else, are free to make your own choices. But, gosh, it sure is easy to blow off attacks and insults when you're not the one receiving them, isn't it?

Seriously Andrew [Mr. Price]? What are you 12? Just relax, you are using a service that for the most part is wholly free to you unless you wish to be a supporter and even then it's cheap. There are scores of volunteers across the web on numerous sites who attempt to help people with all sorts of issues. I've never had a conversation with Dr. Mike but I'm sure you can relate to his inability to provide feedback from an incomplete question. Do you respond the same way to students in your Freshman class? I would hope not, or the Tempe sun may be getting to you.

Regardless, life moves on and attacking a volunteer in a way that is inappropriate (yes inappropriate - I challenge other members to figure out a reason why your behavior has been appropriate so far) is far being adult. So I guess we are back to where I started ...

What are you 12?

Seriously, Dr. Mike. What are you, 12? This does not reflect well on Edublogs. When I gave a presentation to my entire school (100+ teachers), specifically promoting Edublogs, I had no idea what sort of tools were actually behind the Edublogs. Seems clear I need to look for another provider for next year. I will not be a supporter after the current school year.

Actually it was with Mr. Price's blog but it's not worth troubling the forum with it.

Trying to think of a suggestion to make on this one since it was the datacenter's own DNS. I know we run a pair of offsite DNS servers with the individual boxes serving as primary but I don;t know if it would have helped in this case.

Send in an email to support at edublogs dot org from the new email and explain the situation. They won't delete the blog but they may change the address for you.

In blogger or wordpress, you can change the e-mail address and save it.

Not sure about blogger or regular wordpress but edublogs runs a software called WordPress MultiUser. This step is added as a security feature so that if someone gains access to your account, they won't be able to completely take it over. As someone who spent a couple of years on the wordpress forums dealing with hundreds of Club Penguin players, and the kiddie scripters that followed them, it's a big help with security.

We are really sorry about the lack of access to the blogs but without being able to even access our domain URL it meant we weren't able to display any sort of notification.

We were giving constant updates on Twitter - but unfortunately that doesn't help those that don't use twitter. However for future reference this is our twitter account which is always worth checking even if you aren't using twitter - http://twitter.com/edublogs

Dr Mike's comment about "warez links on your blog" was a bit of a joke with @wlingle because he often has to ask people for a link to the post on their blog that is having trouble or the blog that is having trouble. Without these it can make it hard to trouble shoot the problem.

Thanks for all you guys do!

@ Dr.Mike - don't let the haters bring you down, I for one love to read your replies and the sarcasm that comes with sometimes. It brings levity to those that don't take life too serious and it makes me laugh.

I was out, but no worries for me, I just spent the day with my family instead...thanks for that as well!

Thanks to all...I remember the step I was missing.

I needed to take my screenshots and take them into my Iphoto App and then export them into 450 width images with unique names onto my desktop.

Thanks again Dr. and Sue!

Hi Bill, Edublogs uses a very complex image management system. Your best option is to use unique names like Dr Mike suggests.

I suggest you read this post as it gives you some tips with dealing with spam commenters - http://theedublogger.com/2009/11/17/tips-for-dealing-with-spam-commenters/

I have a new e-mail. I have attempted to change the e-mail in settings several times. However, the system is not allowing me to change the e-mail so that I may delete my blog. Each time I type in the new e-mail and press save, the old e-mail re-appears. Please advise on the best way to save a new e-mail address in settings.

I simply want to delete my blog. Thanks in advance.

@Mr Price many of the people who respond in the Edublogs Forum are volunteers.

Dr Mike is one of our extremely hard working volunteers. The reason why he wasn't aware of the situation is he is currently very busy ringing the bell for the Salvation Army - he does this for 9-10 hours each day for the 31 Days leading up to Christmas. During this time he only has access to his iPhone but is nice enough to monitor the Edublogs Forum when he can.

Snarkiness not required, Dr. Mike. Everybody's edublogs were down all day yesterday. So if you weren't even aware, you probably should not be posting here. It's above your pay grade.

For this post I must have forgot to do something of importance to the images, because what should be screen shots of a Web Page has turned into Hiroshima Nuclear Bomb it appears.

What are the steps to prevent pictures from being switched out like this...The images in question all had semi-unique names (ie vector1, vector2, etc.)

I have been getting increasing numbers of spammers after every post recently, is this something from them as well?

Thanks in advance,
